The girls played in pink bibs to raise awareness for Pink Ribbon Day for people living with breast cancer. They played their most cohesive and focused game so far this year.
Their teamwork was excellent, they played selflessly and their passing skills and shooting were first class.
Our newer girls, Jessa, Liesl, Marley, Triyah and Charlize played with outstanding self-belief and confidence and demonstrated how rapidly they have improved in a short time this year.
Chloe played a wonderful game and especially remarkable was her time in attack when she was shooting from all around the circle and every shot either dropped or just rimmed out.
Evelyn and Georgia combined in defense again in the second half and Wandong managed to only score once for the half. Georgia’s rebounding and intercepting were fantastic and Evelyn made consistently good choices when moving the ball.
Tahlia played her best game, moving well into position and shooting accurately. It was great to see her playing freely and strongly.
Congratulations to all the girls on a fabulous season so far. Congratulations also to the parents of the girls. This is a wonderfully united and supportive team of girls and their kindness, generosity of spirit and determination to help each other are a credit to their families.
Seymour Black Under-16s also turned pink on what was a glorious autumn day against Broadford Red on our home court.
The heat was on as the game was evenly balanced between both sides with the ball travelling up and down the court numerous times before converting a goal. In the second quarter the girls worked tirelessly together in defence keeping the opposition goalless. Hayley played it out in wing defence, continuing to grow confidence in her new position and capturing some handy possessions of the ball, while Polly in goal defence and Brandy, goal keeper, repeatedly got the intercepts.
Holding strong, clocking up the miles in centre was Tenisha weaving nicely into the cleared spaces, assisting Isabella in wing attack whose game continues to flourish.
Despite a niggling injury, Isabella pushed hard attacking every opportunity towards the ball as did Jasmine in goal attack whose height was an advantage in the goal ring. Goal shooter was Lucy who had an impressive goal first quarter.
The team worked hard, and their efforts were rewarded with a three-goal win over Broadford 11-8.
