In a sizzling 27minutes and 31seconds Syd Voogt made it back-to-back wins in the club’s annual Run the Course — a successful fundraiser for local sport.
He led home a field of 188 runners (and walkers) who covered the course in perfect conditions in either the 18- or nine-hole events.
Voogt smashed his 2018 winning time by 23seconds in the 18-hole event.
Taryn Furletti had the women’s best overall time in 30minutes and nine seconds.
Highlands Park Run, the Labor Running Club, Make a Wish Foundation and Seymour Football Netball Club will all receive half of their entry fees back as sponsorship for their clubs.
The club’s Irene Davey said her members see Run the Course as a proactive and healthy way to contribute to local clubs and charities ‘‘while providing a unique family friendly event’’.
She said after the run, free golf activities, a free jumping castle and free kid’s dash were provided to entertain the younger fraternity.
‘‘Every competitor received a voucher for a free game of golf in their ‘goodies’ bag which we hope to see being used over the next few months,’’ Ms Davey said.
‘‘We at the club extend an invitation to use those vouchers and/or attend an introduction to golf at 10am on Sunday, March 31,’’ she said.
