Hundreds of community members turned out last week for the annual Katandra West Community Christmas Party.
Children and adults enjoyed an evening of fun and entertainment, with Katandra West residents gathering to celebrate the festive season.
Community Committee member Leanne Ireland said the annual event had grown quickly during the past couple of years.
‘‘The event has been going for at least 30 years, it started off as a Carols Walkabout where people would walk around town and sing Christmas carols,’’ she said.
‘‘The town then got the new Community Centre and after a few wet years we transferred the event into there ... this year we had in excess of 150 adults and at least a couple of hundred children.’’
Ms Ireland said children enjoyed an evening of games, jumping castles and Christmas entertainment on the oval while the committee put together a festive feast for guests to enjoy.
She said the event was a highlight on the town’s social calender each year and one that the entire Katandra community could enjoy.
‘‘It is a good night that the whole community is invited to; people can come along and meet their neighbours and friends,’’ she said.
‘‘There is not many people from town that didn’t come.’’
