Concert and celebration

Seymour’s St Mary’s College hosted its annual Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea and concert on Friday.

The school welcomed more than 320 mothers, grandmothers and other people special to them on a wet and windy afternoon.

Year 10 leaders greeted the visitors and served afternoon tea, which had been prepared by the staff.

Each visitor was given a lucky door prize ticket and the winners were Ebony Heers, Kate Martin, Christie Gross, Dallas Stokes and Julie O’Neill.

Lorraine from Rivergum Flowers Seymour very generously donated two bouquets of flowers.

Students then entertained the large crowd with a variety of musical performances — including the always popular prep video before joining their mums for afternoon tea.

A special part of the afternoon was the presentation from the Parents and Friends Association to the college.

The generous donation will go towards providing more laptops and access to digital technologies for the students as well as adding to fitness equipment for the older students.

The afternoon closed with a blessing from Fr Ashkar and a poem read by senior primary student Lizzie Parker.
