Furry surprise for SES team

Last Tuesday the team was called to a large tree which was blocking Highlands Rd, about 5km from Seymour.

While cutting the limbs into movable sections, one of the members discovered a baby ringtail possum perched on the log. 

It had climbed from the hollow log to find out what all the noise was about and was kind enough to have some happy snaps before getting placed safely back inside his home with his two brothers and sisters.

Unit controller Christine Welsh nursed the baby possum when he was found. 

‘‘This is the first time we’ve found something cute and furry,’’ she said. 

‘‘We contacted the RSPCA to make sure we were doing the right thing with leaving the possums where they were.’’

The log was left intact and the local police, who were also called to the tree block, helped to drag the log to a safe location to ensure their cute little friends could be found by their mum.
