Mobile upgrades

New mobile towers will be built to combine with boosters to increase mobile telephone coverage for regional train commuters even further, but even without any new towers, the boosters give passengers mobile coverage for more of their journey.

This project allows more Victorians to work during their daily commute, delivering an estimated $20million boost per year to the economy.

There will still be some black spots until all 35 new mobile towers are up and running, but by the end of this year passengers will benefit from improved mobile coverage on all their journeys.

‘‘Our regional train commuters and passengers are now better connected on every trip and we are on track to improve mobile coverage by the end of the year when the mobile tower build is complete,’’ Victorian Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said.
