The gift of $10,000

THE Gift Kyabram has had its fundraising bolstered after receiving $10,000 as part of Commonwealth Bank’s Centenary Grants program.

The organisation is one of 1000 community organisations chosen by CommBank — more specifically by the staff at the Kyabram branch.

Jennifer Townrow, Commonwealth Bank Kyabram branch manager, said the inspiring and far-reaching impact of the work undertaken by the Kyabram Gift was a crucial factor in it receiving the grant.

“It’s important to us that we support local organisations like The Gift. It’s incredible to see how they support the wider community,” she said.

“When we first found out about the CommBank Foundation’s Centenary Grants program, it was so exciting to have the opportunity to nominate a local organisation that’s meaningful for us. It was a unanimous decision to choose the organisation to receive the $10,000 grant.”

The Gift’s Claudia Green said the group is thankful for the decision of staff.

“We’re extremely grateful for their support. (The nature of The Gift) means every family’s circumstances are different but the money will go toward fuel vouchers, medical bills and other expenses which can become too much for families who are supporting a loved one through cancer,” Claudia said.

“This money will go straight into providing for local families.”

The Centenary Grants are made possible by more than 13,000 current and retired bank employees donating a portion of their income to CommBank Foundation, with Commonwealth Bank contributing up to $2 million each year.
