Towners defence made to work overtime

By Benalla Ensign

A-grade

It was always going to be a hard day for Violet Town, coming up against a well-drilled Dookie United and that it was, with Dookie taking out a 31-goal win.

Dookie started well and it took the first quarter for Violet Town to get into the game and garner a little bit of momentum.

Violet Town kept working hard all day in defence, picking up a lot of the ball, while the players finished the game off well, achieving the goal they put out for themselves that quarter.

Determined to put up a fight against top side Dookie, C-grade came out strong in the first quarter. While Dookie only had a small lead in the second quarter, the Towners continued to put the pressure on.

Defenders Erin Dawson and Kirsten Bowles played a tight quarter which saw Dookie’s goalers make a number of misses, but the Towners’ attackers struggled to get momentum in the second half with Dookie increasing its lead.
