Champion calls time

By Benalla Ensign

After 30 years in the game, Benalla’s Tony Williams has decided to retire from competitive lawn bowls.

The local real estate agent said he had decided to turn his focus towards golf and his passion for real estate, after a long and successful career out on the greens.

Williams boasts a large list of accomplishments in the sport, locally and across the state.

At state level, he has taken out the Victorian 60 and over singles, Victorian Country Masters Mixed Pairs and a silver medal at the Victorian Open singles, as well as representing Victoria at the Australian Indoor Singles in Queensland.

The bowls veteran is also walking away with a number of Ovens and Murray titles including two open singles, mens fours, pairs, and veterans singles.

With a range of pennant premierships, club events and local tournaments up his sleeve, Williams has been a permanent fixture in the local bowls community.

You will now find him taking on the his next challenge out on the golf course.
