$30million up for grabs in community grants initiative

June 07, 2018

Do you have a vision for a better Strathbogie Shire? Maybe there’s a project you’d like to get off the ground that you need funding for?

Pick My Project is a Victorian first community grants initiative, with $30million available to fund local projects that provide a benefit to the community.

You can come up with a project idea, vote for your favourite projects, and receive the funding you need to make your community an even better place to live, work and play.

Mayor Amanda McClaren said the initiative is an exciting first for the Victorian Government and she would love to see some of the funding come into the Strathbogie Shire.

‘‘I am constantly blown away by the passion, dedication and hard work of the Strathbogie Shire community,’’ Cr McClaren said. ‘‘Our communities are best placed to identify and address local issues, and have the strengths and skills to shape a strong and vibrant future, so we encourage individuals and groups with ideas and visions for a better Strathbogie Shire to explore this opportunity.’’

To be eligible for funding, your project must:

■Align with the Pick My Project objective of making your community an even better place to live;

■Align with the project categories set out below;

■Cost between $20000 to $200000 (GST inclusive);

■Be open or available to the wider community (a playground or community garden behind locked gates would not be eligible);

■Be completed within 12 months from the date of signing the funding agreement and any necessary development approvals and permissions; and

■Be able to be funded entirely through the Pick My Project funding, unless additional funding has already been sourced.
