Farewell Val

Val Harvey, centre, was recently farewelled by church folk from the four church denominations at St Johns Anglican church.

Long-time parishioner Val Harvey was recently farewelled from St John’s Anglican church.

While Ms Harvey might believe she ‘‘only does what others do’’, those who attended from the four church denominations knew better, thanking her for the work organising the pub raffle, Christmas in July, as well as all the cleaning, sewing, polishing and cooking.

Reverend Paul Dalzell blessed her and parish folk laid hands on her, before Peter Darbyshire wished her well on behalf of the parish and thanked her for all she had done for the church and community.

Margaret Hurren presented Ms Harvey with flowers from her garden and a card signed by all present.

Community member Diane Grant said Ms Harvey had been an integral part of the Nagambie church and wished her all the best for her move to Kilmore.

‘‘Val is also a keen croquet player and has been a very important member of the Nagambie club,’’ Ms Grant said.

‘‘She will be missed by the parish and community.’’
