Seymour came close to Shepparton, but the Bears withstood the pressure to record a 12-goal win.

Hannah Crawley was in spectacular form and shot 33 of Shepparton’s 45 goals, with Morgan Gibson a stalwart in defence.

Kate Durling made an impact through the midcourt and Sarah Douglas did the same for Seymour.

With Victorian Netball League players absent, regular contributors Meg Grbac and Rosie O’Sullivan caused trouble for Shepparton.

Lions playing coach Laura Carland said despite the scoreline she thought her side was right in the contest for most of the game.

‘‘It was an intense, hard-fought game from the first pass,’’ she said.

‘‘We had great transitioning down the court and moved the ball well from end to end — but a lack of confidence in shooters resulted in more thrown than usual, costing us the game.’’

B-grade

The Lions’ B-grade side went down to Shepparton 53-39, with Courtney Aldous best on court and Mariah Bauman scoring 35 goals.

B-reserve

The team lost 63-14 with Isabella Morgan best on court.

Under 17

The Under-17s lost to Shepparton, 43-29.
