The Mitchell Shire Concert Band perform its autumn concert, Changing Colours, at the Broadford Shire Hall on May 6 from 2.30pm.
The band will play the four pieces that won them second place in their grade at the recent Yamaha National Band Championships.
They will also perform the three pieces they will be playing at the upcoming Bendigo Eisteddfod competitions on May 26-27.
For something completely different their guest artist is percussionist Roger Adams who played timpani for the band in the National Championships.
‘‘Roger has the band participating in a hilarious body percussion piece that should give everyone their quota of laughter for the day,’’ clarinet player Pam Collings said.
Also performing will be The Thistle Ensemble, the band’s clarinet ensemble subgroup which will play a selection of pieces with a soul feel. Winded!, a woodwind trio, will play a suite of pesky dances.
Last, but not least, the band’s current learner group will make their debut performance.
Mrs Collings said the group has come along in leaps and bounds after just six months of tuition.
‘‘They are amazing. We can hardly wait until they join the senior band,’’ she said.
‘‘Why not get together with a few friends or family, bring along a picnic basket and join the band as they celebrate the changing colours of autumn?’’
