The Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society had its Annual General Meeting last week and celebrated 160 years since the foundation of the organisation.
Past presidents and long-standing members attended the meeting and heard from Duncan Chisholm about his 60 years’ involvement with the society.
Mr Chisholm was president of the Society 1971 and 1972 and had many tales to tell about how the society functioned back in the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. New members elected to the council were Glenn Barry, Vicki Kennedy and Leonie Feary.
Jason Ronald was re-elected president; Gay Lewis senior vice-president; James Anderson junior vice-president; Kerry Williams honorary treasurer; Pam Beerens secretary.
New life members elected at the meeting were Marg U’Ren for more than 29 years service to the society particularly in the needlework and craft section; Glenice Heywood for more than 25 years’ service in the preserves section, and fourth generation of the Heywood family to be involved with the Society; and Coral Cole for more than 20 years’ service in many areas.
