A social networking group for women in the Mitchell Shire held its first event for the year at the Rose Café in Kilmore last week.
The event was attended by business owners, independent consultants and hobbyists from across the Shire and attendees had an opportunity to network with each other and speak with Member for Euroa Steph Ryan.
Anita Gisch, who is behind the initiative, said the aim was to meet once a month, with events likely to vary.
‘‘We will continue hosting morning markets so local women can showcase their products and services as well as adding brunch and evening events so we can get together in a relaxed atmosphere to learn from each other and help local businesses feel connected,’’ she said.
‘‘We want to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for working women across Mitchell Shire — everyone is welcome.’’
Ms Ryan said she applauded Ms Gisch and the others involved in the group for providing opportunities for women in the Mitchell Shire.
‘‘This group gives women the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences, brainstorm ideas and learn from each other,’’ she said.
‘‘I so enjoyed having the opportunity to meet with the group and get to know some of the women better. I look forward to seeing the group expand as word gets out about this fantastic initiative.’’
The next event is planned for March 13 at 3pm. More information can be found on the Mitchell Shire Women in Business Facebook page or by phoning Anita on 0414416889.
