People braved the heat on January 26 to join in the Australia Day festivities put on by Rotary Club of Seymour at Kings Park.

North Ward Councillor Fiona Stevens presented a certificate of appreciation to Seymour RSL sub branch members Wayne Storey, John Phoenix, Hank and Jen Kreemers, John and Carolynne Blackwell, and Keith Murphy for their work on the ‘Step Ahead’ project committee.

Australia Day ambassador Dr Milosh Ivanovich, who came to Seymour with his family, then spoke about the cultural importance of the national day, and the need to recognise our history in order to move forward.

Seymour Car Club added colour to the event, with members proudly showing off their vintage wheels, while VICSES Seymour and the police also contributed to the spectacle.

Entertainment was provided by Blue Grass Express while members of the Rotary Club put on a three-hour barbecue.
