Ever wanted to see how Council’s service, financial and sustainability indicators stack up over time or how Mitchell compares with other councils?
The State Government’s Know Your Council website publishes data on all Victorian councils, showing how they have performed in animal management, aquatic facilities, food safety, governance, libraries, maternal and child health, roads, statutory planning, waste collection and financial performance.
The indicators are also included in Council’s Annual Report which was released in October this year.
The Know Your Council website shows how each council compares with averages for all Victorian councils, as well as similar councils.
Mitchell Shire falls into the large rural municipalities category. In the latest data, Mitchell Shire Council improved in several areas including the time taken to action animal management requests, councillor attendances at council meetings, enrolments in the Maternal and Child Health service and the number of kerbside bins missed.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said the website was a good way for the community to see how Council was tracking, especially compared to previous data releases.
‘‘We’ve heard from our community that they want greater transparency from Council and we’ve been working hard to achieve this,’’ Cr Sanderson said.
‘‘This latest data shows we are making some great inroads in a number of services categories such as animal management, maternal and child health, and waste. However, we know we have a way to go and there are always improvements that can be made.
“We will continue to work hard over the next 12 months and beyond to see our results improve even further.’’
