Fire crews will be on high alert this week as temperatures are expected to hit 38°C today.

Fire crews will be on high alert this week as temperatures are expected to hit 38°C today.

District 12 operations officer Charlie Cleary said people should be vigilant in this hot weather.

‘‘While we have had some rain, and significant rain at that, people should stay vigilant,’’ he said.

‘‘It may feel wet under foot, but the grass is very dry.’’

Residents should remember the fire danger period is still enforced and should refer to the ‘Can I or Can’t I?’ section on the CFA website.

‘‘Be aware of the obligations of the fire danger period and don’t be complacent,’’ Mr Cleary said.
