Some regional forest and park tracks and roads will re-open tomorrow in time for the Melbourne Cup long weekend.
Murrindindi district senior forest management and roading officer Emily Steer said roads and tracks were closed temporarily to protect them from damage during the wetter months.
‘‘These roads and tracks were closed over winter and spring for public safety and to protect track surfaces as well as water quality and the forest environment,’’ she said.
While most of the tracks will soon open, a handful will remain closed for repairs or to enable them to dry out.
These include Phosphate Rd and Phone Track in Mt Disappointment State Forest, and Rubicon River Rd and Tom Burns Track in Rubicon State Forest.
