The Red Cross is looking for new volunteers to join their Emergency Services teams in the Seymour.
Member for Euroa Steph Ryan said the Australian Red Cross welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds to apply, and provides extensive training and development opportunities for new volunteers.
“Red Cross is recruiting across the region now so it’s a great time for people to attend a local information session to find out what is involved,” Ms Ryan said.
Volunteers are trained to provide support in the local area, throughout Victoria and potentially Australia-wide in times of national emergencies.”
Ms Ryan said Red Cross volunteers are best known for helping people during a disaster – they might greet people at evacuation centres, go door-to-door in communities following a flood or fire to check how people are coping or register people to help them find family and friends.
“Emergency Services volunteers are also essential in helping communities prepare for emergencies and with recovery after a disaster has past, helping run community projects and supporting people with their healing process,” she said.
The information sessions will be at Legacy House, 20 Edward St, Shepparton on October 28 at 10am and October 30 at 7.30pm.
