During the past few months, Seymour Cub Scouts has been very busy.
Recently the Cubs went to Melbourne to enjoy an adventurous day, starting with a train trip in to the city.
Then the Cubs were given a list of treasure they had to find as we walked to Swanston St.
Cubs had to point out any items they found to a Scout leader or adult helper before they could be ticked off.
The treasure items varied from a Victorian crest to a lady in a yellow dress.
After checking out some graffiti lanes, we had lunch at the playground between Federation Square and the Yarra River.
Next it was on to a tram for a ride to St Kilda so that we could have a few rides at Luna Park.
Then we went to St Kilda beach for a play, and ate cakes purchased from Acland St.
We all piled back on to a tram to catch a train back to Seymour.
But, we still weren’t done.
La Porchetta then hosted us as we wrapped up a massive day with pizzas.
The intent was to have tired kids by this stage, but they were still full of beans and the leaders were flagging.
Another recent highlight was a Seymour children’s disco, which was the first to be held in the Scout Hall for a few years.
This event was advertised through the school and 54 kids turned up on the last Friday before the holidays.
It was a successful event, with everyone having a lot of fun.
It is the intent of the Cub Scout leaders to run one of these at or near the end of each term.
It’s great for the kids to get out and be active and it’s a good fundraiser for the Cubs.
Keep an eye out for the next one in term three.
That wraps up a great term.
Well done to the Cubs on all they achieved this term, and thanks to all the adult helpers that contributed through the term.
