Nominate an Ambo

July 06, 2017

Ambulance Victoria response time data shows it is taking longer to get an ambulance in Strathbogie Shire than it did four years ago.

Recognise a local Ambulance Victoria staff member or volunteer by nominating them for the 2018 Ambulance Service Medal award.

Member for Euroa Steph Ryan said local ambulance services do a fantastic job helping people when they are most in need and these awards offered a chance to recognise this.

‘‘Paramedics and volunteers work long hours and often put themselves at risk for the sake of others, and a lot of their work wouldn’t be possible without the assistance of auxiliary members,’’ Ms Ryan said.

‘‘Full-time and part-time paramedics, volunteers and auxiliary members are all eligible for the award.

‘‘Potential nominees could include someone who has provided exceptional training or public education in community first aid or someone who has developed a new system for medical care or transport.

‘‘It could also be someone who has delivered outstanding leadership to support the development of others within Ambulance Victoria.’’

Awards are made by the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and are awarded to recipients as part of the Australia Day Honours List each year.

‘‘If you know of someone who has gone above and beyond their normal call to service you believe would be worthy of an Ambulance Service Medal award, I would encourage you to nominate them,’’ Ms Ryan said.

Nomination forms are available by phoning 57621600.

Nominations close July 21.
