Seymour got away with a 15-point win over Echuca.

Both sides hit the scoreboard in a tight first quarter that saw the Lions ahead by just nine points at quarter time.

Seymour took control in the second term, kicking three goals to the Murray Bombers’ one, to extend its lead to a handy 21 points by the long break.

Echuca could only manage three minor scores in the third quarter as the Lions kicked two majors to set up a comfortable lead and near-certain victory going into the final change.

The Murray Bombers, with little to lose, came back in the final term but the damage had already been done.

The Lions got the vital goal to keep Echuca at an arm’s length before the final siren blew.

THIRDS

Seymour was overwhelmed and over-run by a mature Echuca side.

Seymour couldn’t find the score board at all until the second quarter, while the Murray Bombers piled on 9.7 to lead by 55 points at half-time.

A better performance in the third quarter saw Seymour restrict Echuca to just two goals but the Lions were unable to convert themselves.

The final quarter was a formality as Echuca kicked another five goals for a comfortable 106-point win.
