Special night for debutantes

The Anglican Parish of Central Goulburn's 2017 Debutante Ball was held on June 16 at St Mary's College Hall, Seymour.

The Anglican Parish of Central Goulburn’s 2017 Debutante Ball on Friday, June 16 at St Mary’s College hall, Seymour saw 20 debs and their partners make their debut.

The Deb set came from across the district to train for the ball, and were presented to the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Wangaratta, The Right Reverend John Parkes, his wife Margaret Parkes, Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson, Parish Priest Reverend Gary Atherton and his wife Karen, and more than 360 family and friends at St Mary’s College hall.

The Deb set were trained by Margaret Sanders, Neil Kendrick, John Reed, Jean Green, Sharon Solyom and Diane Grant. The evening began with their presentation to the official party, then the dancing of the Maypole and presentation dances.

A two-course dinner by Ken’s Catering was enjoyed by all before the crowd danced all night to the band duo Cloud Nine.

After thank you speeches by Diane Grant, Bishop John Parkes and debutante Bryar Goodman and partner Marko Culina, a gift presentation by debutante Mariah Baumann and partner Will Eager was made to the convener and trainers.

The cutting of the Maypole decorated deb cake was performed by deb couples Tiegan Smith, Keenan Fanning, Codi Hall and Corey Moore.

From then on the deb set and their guests partied and had a ball.

The raffle was won by G. Spencer; second went to C. McCloy.

The Anglican Parish of Central Goulburn would like to thank everyone who in anyway helped make the deb ball such a success.
