Strathbogie Shire Council had a successful weekend at Melbourne’s Good Food and Wine Show from June 2 to 4, promoting the region’s fantastic food and wineries.

The show is the largest, longest-running and most distinguished consumer food and wine show in Australia.

Under Council’s Love Strathbogie banner, Tahbilk, Maygars Hill and Mitchelton wineries attended for the second year running with newcomers Baddaginnie Run, The Ministry of Chocolate and The Weekend Local showcasing their finest products to thousands of enthusiastic and engaged consumers.

Customers attend the show with the intention of discovering new brands, products and destinations which provides a great opportunity for the shire to promote itself as a destination for quality wine and fantastic food and produce.

Mayor Amanda McClaren was impressed by the impact and interaction that she, the councillors and the staff had on shoppers.

‘‘The display looked fabulous and gave staff and councillors the opportunity to raise the profile of our shire to thousands of potential visitors and new residents,’’ she said.

‘‘Conversations about the many places to visit in our region and our close proximity to Melbourne enticed people to visit in the future.

‘‘The New Home Buyers initiative in our Draft Council Plan also sparked interest in people considering entering the housing market and promoted moving to our region.’’
