A full schedule of activities is on offer these school holidays that will not hurt the hip pocket.
There are dozens of free or low-cost activities at Mitchell Shire Council’s libraries, leisure centres and youth rooms to keep children and teenagers entertained during the school holidays, which begin on July 1.
There will be free activities at the council’s Youth Rooms in Broadford (154 High St) and Wallan (42 Bentinck St) from July 3 to 13, including cupcake making and decorating, a movie day, a street-style dance class and a spray painting workshop.
There’ll also be plenty of fun at Kilmore Library with the popular robotics workshop on July 3 ($15, including morning tea) and cooking classes on July 11 ($10 per person).
Pool inflatables will be back at Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre on July 13 (Kilmore Leisure Centre will have the inflatables on July 4), as well as the five-day Intensive Swim Program ($67.50).
Meanwhile, school holiday grab bags will be for sale for $15 at the council’s Youth Rooms or Customer and Library Service Centres.
The bags include more than $100 worth of tickets and vouchers, including a Reading Cinema movie ticket, Challenge Laser Skirmish entry and an OZ Tenpin Bowling ticket.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said there was something on offer for everyone.
‘‘There is such a great variety of activities on offer these school holidays and the best part is that most of them are free or low cost,’’ Cr Sanderson said.
‘‘It’s often hard to keep the kids entertained over the break without spending hundreds of dollars. These activities are fun, local and budget-friendly.’’
