Riding to school

by
May 19, 2017

There was a great buzz around Avenel Primary School at the end of last term when more than 90 bicycles made their way to school as part of the Ride to School morning.

For the past five years, Avenel Primary School has used the national Ride to School Day as an opportunity to celebrate the fabulous bicycle opportunities that abound in our community.

By forming a ‘riding school bus’, we were able to pick up students from their doorsteps and ride in convoy to school.

This event has got bigger each year and our two ceremonial laps of the oval with close to 70 riders was quite a sight to see.

A big thanks to the Nagambie police officers who accompanied us on the day and to all of the parent riders who helped out with our riding school bus.

Member for Euroa Steph Ryan also rode as part of the riding school bus and the scale of the event amazed her.

We look forward to another wonderful Ride to School event in 2018 and to further embedding a unique part of Avenel culture.
