Scouts’ good deed in the park

Goulburn Park in Seymour is in pristine condition thanks to the 1st Seymour Scout Group’s efforts for Clean up Australia Day.

The 1st Seymour Scout Group has been a regular contributor to Clean Up Australia Day, and a large group turned up again this year to clean Seymour’s Goulburn Park.

There was 33 Scouts from Joeys to Venturers, many parents, six leaders and two committee members (but no partridges were spotted in a pear tree).

All the children were provided with a safety brief and they went with great enthusiasm to help make the park a cleaner and more enjoyable place to rest or have fun.

Many bags of recyclable and non-recyclable rubbish were collected and made ready for Council to dispose of.

This was followed by a variety of games and activities where the Scouts were challenged to save the world through tenacious knot tying and other actions of daring do.

The Scouts’ successes were rewarded with a twilight sausage sizzle, thanks to Graeme and Lynne.

Thanks to Mitchell Shire Council for collecting the rubbish the next day. Also thanks to all those who help support the group, to have it in such good health with so many great members.

Well done group leader, committee, leaders and all parent helpers.
